How To Make A 6 Week Weight Loss Program That Really Works!

This 6 week weight loss program is going to differ from many of the programs out there. Instead of focusing on getting rid of fat in the fastest amount of time possible, I'm going to focus on long-lasting fat loss instead.

Getting rid of weight really isn't that difficult if you know the correct steps in doing it. Even a person with a bad metabolism could drop 5-10 in the first few weeks if they know what they're doing.

While I won't go into detail in this 6 week weight loss program, the general guidelines should help you tremendously.

Week 1 - The first week, all I want you to do is start reading about nutrition and exercise. You can't start a weight loss program if you don't know anything about nutrition and exercise, so get yourself a book and start reading!

Week 2 - This week you're going to do 2 things. First, you'll start exercising and you're also going to start eating at least 1 healthy meal per day. You can do more if you'd like, but all I'm asking for is 1 good, healthy meal everyday. The other meals you can eat however you'd normally eat.

Week 3 - In the third week you're going to add an extra healthy meal. If you've been eating 3 meals per day and 1 is healthy, now you'll eat 2 normal meals and 2 healthy meals. Just remember to lower the proportions since you'll be eating more often!

Week 4 - In this week I want you to start replacing any kind of drink that has calories with water. Also, if you're exercising but not doing strength training, start strength training. You'll still be eating at least 2 healthy meals along with 2 regular meals as well.

Week 5 - By now you should have lost a few pounds and are starting to feel great. You probably have more energy and, since I've made it easy for you, are sticking with your program. Now I want you to add yet another meal, so you're now at 5. Again, lower proportions on them all since you're eating an extra meal now. Now you'll be eating 3 healthy meals and 2 regular meals. Just make sure you proportion them right!

Week 6 - In the final week of this 6 week weight loss program, it's kind of up to you depending on what works for you. You're already strength training, which is great. The exercise portion is good. But the nutrition still isn't so I want you to do 2 things. First, go up to 6 meals if that's comfortable for you, and again lower the proportions at each meal. Also, eat at least 5 healthy meals and 1 regular meal. If you can, try to do 6 regular meals and maybe a small snack for yourself so you don't go crazy.

If you've gone through the 6 week weight loss program and followed these directions, you should have lost at least 10 pounds by now, depending on what you had to lose and your body type.

The first week is the most important, so re-read that and make sure you do it! You simply won't do anything without a good knowledge of what exercise is the best and what foods you should be eating and when.

If at any time during this 6 week weight loss program you feel completely overwhelmed (a little is OK), simply stay at that particular week until you're comfortable with it. Taking a little longer is always better than quitting!

We as educated people need to start getting angry at all the junk aimed at us everyday. The average American sees thousands of ads each and every day for everything from diet pills to prescription drugs.

Most promise a quick cure for whatever ails us. The weight loss industry alone is estimated to be over $35 Billion dollars annually, so marketing and ads play a vital role in keeping us interested and buying.

We need to start using our heads and understand what weight loss is and what it means. Losing weight alone is not the most important thing. We citizens of western countries are too fat. Losing fat and losing weight are two distinctly different things.

Also distinctly different is how we lose the weight / fat.

A pound of fat equals about 3500 calories. To burn 3500 calories you would need to reduce your daily caloric intake by 500 calories per day for one week, while remaining constant at your current activity level, or you could consume the same number of calories daily and exercise more to burn 500 calories per day. To burn 500 calories through exercise you would need to ride a stationary bike, as an example, for about 1 & hours per day at a rate of about 25 MPH average. Or you could do a combination of decreasing by 250 and burning 250.

The claims that you can "lose 30 pounds in 30 days" are weight not fat. To lose 30 pounds of fat in 30 days you would need to burn 105,000 calories in excess of what you eat, which I'm sure we all agree isn't likely.

Claims aimed at fast weight loss are telling you, you'll lose weight not fat. Fat is harmful to the body not weight per se.

Rapid weight loss through severely restricted caloric intake causes the body to react as if it were sick. It is conditioned to say "Oh Oh"; I'm in trouble I'd better conserve energy. I may not get more food for awhile.

Fat is stored energy. What the body then conserves is fat. It does exactly what you don't need or want it to do, it slows your metabolism, burns lean muscle mass for energy and conserves the fat.

The rapid weight loss that happens the first 30 days is water. Muscle contains about 3 times as much water as fat. So if you lose a pound of muscle you're losing 3 pounds of water with it.

That's why diets alone slow down, there's only so much water to get rid of.

You can't blame the ad agencies, or the diet program companies, people are being sold what they want to buy. They want a quick fix to a problem without sacrifice or change.

The truth is once you learn what the body needs and how it works there is no great need for sacrifice. You can eat nearly anything you want, just less of it, and exercise more.

We are just so conditioned to instant gratification, that we're always awaiting the next miracle drug to make us all look like Hollywood celebrities. The $35 billion is just giving us what we demand.

Day 4 - Follow My Weight Loss Program - Holiday Season Fast Approaching

Ok, so there are four days left until Christmas, however less than 24 hours left until all of the family gathering, foods and fun start. Our family will be getting together starting on Saturday and going all the way through next week. This means I have to get myself disciplined, and do so in a hurry.

I can not begin to tell you, if you do not experience it yourself, just how much and how many different foods there will be sitting in front of me over the next several days. You name it. Hams, turkeys, potatoes, stuffing, yams, I better stop, it is early morning and I haven't had breakfast just yet and all this talk about food...well you know.

Come to think of it I haven't even thought about the cakes, cookies, pies...yikes, I think I just did. So as you can see, the pressure will be intense over the course of this holiday season, but that's ok. I didn't expect losing 50 pounds to be easy. In fact I was and am expecting it to be hard. I call it punishment for packing it on in the first place.

With that said I see no reason why, even though it will be hard, that it can't be fun. Therefore over the next few days I am going to see if I can get a hold of different recipes for healthy food. If you have any good websites or ideas, please submit a comment, I would appreciate it. I enjoy cooking. Cooking is a great way to be creative with something, or feel a sense of completion when you make someone Else's recipe and it comes out great.

Also when it comes to the exercise portion of the program, I want to make that as fun as well. Besides the normal lifting weights, running/walking etc., maybe I will get myself involved some local sports club or something along those lines. A long time ago, in a galaxy far...oh wait that is a different story. Seriously, a long time ago I use to play hockey, both ice and street as well as do a lot of skiing. I will have to look into getting back into doing maybe that. It is enjoyable, definitely great sources of exercise, and something I would look forward to. I mean, lets face it, I really don't look forward to getting up at 5:00am to walk the dog. I love the dog, but does he really need to go out, that early in the morning? Doesn't he know how cold it is outside?

In any event, although losing 50 pounds will not be easy, it should not be boring either.

Every day I see so many questions about the latest fad diets, even though they already have a weight loss program. Are you a certain way that you feel you must go after every latest fad diet in order to lose weight quickly? Below I will explore a few ways which stops you from not being able to lose the weight.

1.Not being able to eat your favorite foods, I have been on a diet before and not been able to eat the foods I love (forbidden foods) I struggle so much that I try and avoid them no matter what. Is this the reason why you're chasing every fad diet looking for the right diet that allows you to eat any food you like? Almost all diets have their own restrictions on what you should be eating in order to lose the weight. The best diet plan is the one that places the least amount on food restrictions, if you find a diet then it's worth sticking to.

You need to remember that in order to lose weight all you need to do is eat healthy meals and keep fat low; it's no good depriving yourself of foods you love. What's the point in be unhappy and trying to diet when it's just making you miserable, this will only lead to overeating and binging. You may also gain more weight than when you first started.

2. Counting calories all the time, throughout your entire life. You know that it's boring and time consuming, tedious, and extremely dull keeping count of everything you actually consume. If you have ever actually counted calories you know it's just plain stinking horrible. Calorie counting makes other weight loss programs seem complicated, which then discourages you from achieving your goals. When counting calories what will you do before going out to a restaurant to eat, how will you know how many calories are in their foods, it will just be plain hard you will need to plan or even starve yourself before you go.

3. Is your weight loss program burning a great big hole in your pocket? There are also lots of weight loss programs that will actually burn your money instead of burning your fat. You need to make sure you don't join expensive programs where they expect you to buy their certain foods in order to reach your weight loss goal. You can lose weight by simply eating normal foods that you can find at your local supermarket and don't cost an arm and a leg.

So as you can see, the weight loss program you need to look for should not put many restrictions on food, doesn't require counting calories, and doesn't cost lots of money. When you find it you need to stick to it.

Interval Training Works For Me - Is Turbulence Training The Best Interval Training System For You?

It is really easy to get down on yourself when you are carrying a lot of extra weight and you know you need to lose it. It is easy to feel overwhelmed with what you have let yourself become.

I know what that is like because I was 50 pounds over my healthy weight for many years. I wanted to be slim and healthy but because I had packed on so many pounds the huge change I needed to make made it feel almost impossible. My self esteem was in the pits. I felt awful about my body and I tried to cover it up with loose-fitting clothes and extra large coats even during warm weather which was so uncomfortable.

If you are like I used to be and you want to lose weight, you want FAST results so that you can actually see that your effort and sacrifice are paying off. Otherwise it is easy to give up and go back to the old unhealthy ways. When I was beginning my weight loss effort which eventually led to losing over 50 pounds, I wanted results relatively soon so that I would have the incentive to stay on my healthy track.

When you have a lot of weight to lose it can seem like you are going to have to diet forever to ever get to your goal - so seeing results on the scale and in the mirror can be very motivating to stick with your program.

Back when I lost my 50+ pounds I followed what was generally taught when it came to losing weight. Eat healthier foods and exercise. The healthy eating advice was good however the expert exercise advice I followed was to exercise for at least 60 minutes a day in a fat burning zone. I followed that advice for years and I would even change my schedule and get up as early as 4 AM to make sure I got my fat burning workout hour in for the day.

Well it turns out the exercise gurus that say to work out for a long time each day in a fat burning zone might not be giving you the best advice.

Clinical research is now showing that the INTENSITY of your exercise is more important than the DURATION if you want to lose weight quickly and keep it off .

There are so many information on how to lose weight easily and quickly. You have to be very careful which source information you should trust, because 80% of people don't want to help you at all. In this article I will go through the weight loss mental preparation which is required for every successful weight loss program.

If you are a person, who wants to lose weight you should first of all start from a goal. Every person who wants to achieve something should start from a specific goal, where he will describe what results he wants to achieve and how long will it take. South Beach Diet Friendly Recipes

Many people think that being on a diet means giving up all of your old favorites. Actually, that is the number one reason that most diets fail. You cannot be expected to give up all of your old favorites, all the time. On the flip side, you cant indulge in them all of the time and expect to keep the weight off. After all, it wasnt what you avoided eating that made you gain weight.

This Diet does allow you to incorporate the occasional indulgence. But, what about those recipes or foods that you want to incorporate more than occasionally? The answer is simple modify. Here are some tips on modifying your old recipes to make them South Beach Diet friendly.

1. What kind of oil? Make sure to substitute mono- and polyunsaturated oils such as olive, peanut or canola oil for any saturated oils, such as butter or margarine, which wreak havoc on your cholesterol.

2. Another kind of sweet If your recipe calls for sugar or honey, use a sugar substitute instead. An all-natural sweetener or one made from sugar (like Splenda) is best.

3. Make it lean Take a close look at the cuts of meat or poultry required. Use lean cuts instead of fattier ones. For example, substitute chicken breasts for chicken thighs.

4. Kick up the fiber For pasta or grain recipes, make sure to use whole-grain or whole-wheat. The fiber will slow down the absorption of starches and sugars into your digestive system.

5. Check the Cheese You should use low or non-fat dairy products only. Normally, low-fat products are not recommended on the South Beach Diet because the fat is often replaced with sugar. However, non and low-fat dairy products are an exception and should be used whenever possible.

You will be surprised how many recipes will taste little to no different with these simple modifications. Of course, you will come across recipes that simply cant be or dont taste the same when modified. Those are the recipes that you are going to have to enjoy occasionally. It is important that you do not deprive yourself completely of these favorites. Youre just going to have to be more aware of when and how much you eat of these favorites. Save them for a special occasion, enjoy them without guilt and get right back to eating well the next day.

As for those that can be modified, make them a staple of your meals and forget you are on a diet!

Basal Metabolic Rate and How It Affects Weight Loss

Basal Metabolic Rate is not usually the first thing that comes to mind when you think about weight loss. We usually think about dieting and exercise programs. But, BMR is a large factor in how our bodies gain or lose weight.

Counting the calories consumed in foods or used in exercise needs to have some base line to measure against. Part of this measurement is based on the basal metabolic rate or BMR. The BMR is the base rate for the body's calorie consumption for the basic functions of the body like pumping blood, maintaining body temperature and repairing blood cells.

The food calories consumed and the exercise calories expended are both important to success in weight loss. The number of calories taken in less the number of calories used equals the calories that are left to be stored as fat in adipose tissues. That amount is approximately 70 calories per hour; a little more when we are awake and a little less when we are sleeping. Everyone has a slightly different BMR depending partially on their genetics and partially on their body types.

Other factors that affect the basal metabolic rate are your body temperature (for instance, if you have a fever) and some medications (such as antidepressants). A fever can cause weight loss and antidepressants can cause weight gain. Talk to your health care professional about how the medications you take can affect your body and whether you would need to take additional steps to prevent excessive weight gain.

Your body must have some fat in order to function. Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are used for electrical functions by the heart, brain and muscles. They are also used by the body for regulating hormones.

BMR can also be changed when you are injured. This is a temporary change while your body is using essential fatty acids and proteins to rebuild damaged tissues. Some weight can be lost when recovering from an injury, depending on its severity. Of course, you wouldn't want to go out and break a leg just to lose a few pounds :)

Foods that are high in fat and refined sugars can reduce the basal metabolic rate because they are low in fiber and bulk. This slows down the activity in the intestines and causes the body to absorb more calories from them. Proper nutrition and getting enough vitamins and minerals can help regulate the BMR.

BMR is generally determined by family genetics. To prevent the poor BMR levels that are handed down from the generations before you, it is important to eat a proper diet and exercise according to your age and body's fitness level.

Taking the basal metabolic rate into account when you are planning to lose weight will help you on the road to success.
